McKenna's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "an enormous soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the second division and they currently sit twelfth place in the Championship.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native former Northern Ireland youth international said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a unique position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial phase of the season. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Context and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about these. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

The coach agreed to a new multi-year deal in last year and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this job like I'll be Ipswich manager indefinitely. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I will consistently give maximum effort as while I remain in position."

Bellamy's Situation

The former striker represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh striker is minded to finish the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently third in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and their rivals in November would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, thanks to a successful European competition campaign, even if they fail to finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his present position, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after the European Championship, would not be available until after the play-offs at the earliest.
