Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a group of talented individuals. The track features a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The context in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
