Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular programs such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a statement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, such as:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find a person who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted publicly.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
